Steyer to discuss Donald Trump’s offenses against the nation and demand local elected officials support Rep. Al Green’s Impeachment Resolution

(SEATTLE, June 4, 2018)—Need to Impeach Founder Tom Steyer is bringing the case to remove Donald Trump from office to Washington state, where he will host a town hall—part of his nationwide, 30-stop town hall series—in Seattle on Tuesday, June 12.

Since launching the town hall series, Steyer has hosted town halls in Columbus, Ohio; Cincinnati; the Washington D.C. area; Oakland, Calif.; Atlanta; Orlando, Fla.; Des Moines, Iowa; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Denver, Colo.; Charlotte, N.C.; Columbia, S.C.; and Minneapolis, Minn. At the event, Steyer will make the patriotic case to Democrats, Independents, and Republicans about the need to impeach Trump, and question why elected leaders in Washington and across the country are ignoring the clear call to action from their constituents.

According to a Quinnipiac poll, 70 percent of Democrats support impeaching Trump, yet five of the six Democratic members of Congress representing Washington—Suzan DelBene (Medina), Rick Larsen (Everett), Derek Kilmer (Artondale), Adam Smith (Bellevue), and Dennis Heck (Olympia)—voted against moving forward with Representative Al Green’s impeachment resolution earlier this year. The only Washington representative who voted in favor of impeachment was Pramila Jayapal (Seattle).

“From California to Florida, Americans across the country are outraged by Donald Trump’s lawlessness and are demanding his removal from power,” said Steyer. “At every single town hall that we have held, we hear directly from American patriots who are frustrated with this administration and the lack of leadership from members of Congress who are overlooking the will of voters who put them in office. Their time to act is now. American voters demand it.”

Steyer launched the Need to Impeach campaign on Oct. 20, 2017 through national television and social media ads. Nearly 5.4 million people have since signed on to support the campaign, creating a digital army that several political strategists call one of the most powerful political tools in the Democratic party. So far, nine national commercials—including one in Spanish—have aired, reaching more than two billion television viewers and more than 454 million people through social media.
