Steyer to discuss Donald Trump’s offenses against the nation and demand local elected officials support Rep. Al Green’s impeachment resolution

(SACRAMENTO, June 13, 2018)—Need to Impeach Founder Tom Steyer is bringing the case to remove Donald Trump from office to Sacramento, where he will host a town hall—part of his nationwide, 30-stop town hall series—on Monday, June 18.

Since launching the town hall series earlier this year, Steyer has hosted town halls in New York City; Philadelphia; Columbus, Ohio; Cincinnati; Washington D.C., Largo, Md.; Arlington, Va; Oakland, Calif.; Atlanta; Orlando, Fla.; Des Moines, Iowa; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Denver, Colo.; Charlotte, N.C.; Columbia, S.C.; Seattle, Wash; and Minneapolis. At the event, Steyer will make the patriotic case to Democrats, Independents, and Republicans about the need to impeach Trump, and question why elected leaders in California and across the country are ignoring the clear call to action from their constituents.

According to a Quinnipiac poll, over 70 percent of Democrats support impeaching Trump, yet two of the three Democratic members of Congress representing the Sacramento area—Doris Matsui (Sacramento) and Ami Bera (Elk Grove)—voted against moving forward with Rep. Al Green’s impeachment resolution earlier this year. The only Sacramento area representative who voted in favor of impeachment was Jerry McNerney (Stockton).

“From California to Florida, Americans across the country are outraged by Donald Trump’s lawlessness and are demanding his removal from power,” said Steyer. “At every single town hall that we have held, we hear directly from American patriots who are frustrated with this administration and the lack of leadership from members of Congress who are overlooking the will of voters who put them in office. Their time to act is now. American voters demand it.”

Steyer launched the Need to Impeach campaign on October 20, 2017 through national television and social media ads. Nearly 5.4 million people have since signed on to support the campaign, creating a digital army that several political strategists call one of the most powerful political tools in the Democratic Party. So far, 12 national commercials—including one in Spanish—have aired, reaching more than two billion television viewers and more than 454 million people through social media.
