(SAN FRANCISCO, January 23, 2019)—Need to Impeach campaign Founder Tom Steyer released the below statement following Michael Cohen’s postponement of his February 7th testimony before the House Oversight Committee amid claims of threats against his family by Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani:

“If these allegations of intimidation by Mr.Trump and Mr. Giuliani are true, it would be an act more befitting of a mob boss than of a president. This is just further proof of what we already know: every day that Mr. Trump remains in office is an assault on the rule of law and the foundations of civil society. If the House is able to tolerate this kind of activity, it will tolerate any activity. It is time for Congress to fulfill its constitutional duty and take action to remove this reckless, lawless president.”

Steyer launched the Need to Impeach campaign on October 20, 2017, through national television and social media ads. With more than 7 million people, several political strategists call it one of the most powerful, active political groups in the Democratic party.
