Video features Debra Messing, Minnie Driver, Joshua Malina in mock audition reading real lines from the Mueller report.

San Francisco, CA — Today, Need to Impeach released a new video featuring 10 actors and pop culture influencers as part of its efforts to continue to inform the American public about the findings of the Mueller investigation. The “Mueller Auditions” video features prominent actors like Debra Messing, Minnie Driver, and Joshua Malina reading real passages from the Report as if it were a casting call, showing the shocking scope of Trump’s lawlessness and attempts to obstruct the Russia investigation. The video directs viewers to a new hub on the Need to Impeach website which highlights the Mueller Report’s findings.

“Since the Mueller Report was released in April, members of Congress have heard from an increasingly vocal movement of Americans who are demanding action,” said Need to Impeach founder Tom Steyer. “Congress’ complacency becomes more costly every day Trump continues his campaign of lawlessness, and it’s far past time for our representatives to begin an impeachment inquiry. We need to hold this president accountable, and we will make sure the American people — whether in their communities or online — have the information they need and a platform to make their voices heard.”

Need to Impeach tapped Michael Kayne to direct the video. He is a comedy director at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City, and the video is designed to appear as a mashup of ten influencer’s audition tapes for the hypothetical casting of a movie about the Mueller Report. The video highlights key passages of the Mueller Report, including testimony about Trump’s demand for loyalty from FBI Director James Comey, and his order to White House Counsel Don McGahn to fire special counsel Mueller and subsequent lies about that order.

Influencers who participated in the video include Kirk Acevedo, Yvette Nicole Brown, Rob Corddry, Jon Cryer, Minnie Driver, Joshua Malina, Debra Messing, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Alysia Reiner, and Anika Noni Rose. Need to Impeach and the influencers will also promote the video through their social media channels to inform their followers about the Mueller Report’s findings and the case for impeachment.

This video is the latest part of Need to Impeach’s accountability campaign. In addition to the video, Need to Impeach has already hosted over 30 “Impeach-In” events, comprised of mostly in-district events and house parties led by supporters and volunteers, and plans to hold at least another 15 over the next few weeks. Tonight, Need to Impeach is hosting an “Impeach-In” call — featuring Tom Steyer, Rob Reiner, The New School Senior Vice President for Social Justice Maya Wiley, and CNN Legal Analyst Renato Mariotti — as the campaign continues to engage as many Americans as possible about the Mueller Report.
