New six-figure TV ad comes after Michael Cohen implicated Donald Trump in crimes, corruption and cover ups before the House Oversight Committee

SAN FRANCISCO, CA Today, Need to Impeach announced that a new television ad will begin airing tomorrow on CNN and MSNBC across the country, calling on Congress to begin impeachment proceedings immediately. The ad follows Michael Cohen’s sworn testimony before the House Oversight Committee, when Cohen confirmed that Donald Trump committed criminal acts both during his campaign and during his presidency, and has attempted to hide the truth from the American people.

The new 30-second ad — which can be seen here — is backed by a $250,000 ad buy and highlights explosive testimony from Cohen documented Trump’s record of criminal behavior, corruption, and cover-ups. The new ad is part of a campaign by Need to Impeach to rally the American people to call on Congress to begin impeachment proceeding immediately.

“Michael Cohen’s testimony confirms what we have known all along — Donald Trump is the most corrupt President in our nation’s history,” said Need to Impeach Founder Tom Steyer. “In this country, no one is above the law, not even the President. It is time for Congress to do its job and hold Donald Trump accountable for his crimes, corruption, and cover ups.”

In his testimony, Mr. Cohen made it clear that Donald Trump is corrupt and has clearly met the standard for impeachment. Mr. Cohen testified under oath that Trump personally reimbursed him for hush-money payments made to Stormy Daniels, had knowledge of Roger Stone’s conversations with WikiLeaks about Hillary Clinton’s emails, and that Trump’s personal lawyers edited Mr. Cohen’s false and misleading statements made to Congress.

In the last week of January, Need to Impeach brought together about 300 impeachment supporters for a two-day training and advocacy summit that concluded with participants hand delivering Articles of Impeachment to their member of Congress. During the Summit, Steyer also announced Project Accountability, an effort to mobilize impeachment supporters in key districts represented by Democratic Congressional leaders. The initiative launched in districts represented by  Reps. Richard Neal (MA-01), Jerrold Nadler (NY-10), and Elijah Cummings (MD-07), and includes a dedicated paid staff person, door-to-door canvassing, a comprehensive media campaign that includes TV, digital, and direct mail, and town halls.

Steyer launched Need to Impeach on October 20, 2017, with an initial $40 million investment to raise the voices of people across the country who were angered by Trump’s presidency and policies. In January, Steyer committed an additional $40 million in 2019 toward impeaching Trump.
