After Previously Airing The Ad Entitled “Join Us,” Fox News Has Decided To Yank The Spot

(SAN FRANCISCO, November 3, 2017)—Tonight on MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes, Tom Steyer announced that Fox News is refusing to air the television ad entitled “Join Us” from his Need To Impeach effort. Fox had previously aired the ad, including on its morning show “Fox and Friends,” where Donald Trump is believed to have seen it. Following an airing of the aid on “Fox and Friends,” Trump tweeted, “Wacky & totally unhinged Tom Steyer, who has been fighting me and my Make America Great Again agenda from beginning, never wins elections!”

Need To Impeach was informed of Fox News’ decision to cease running its television advertisement on Tuesday, October 31, the day after Special Counsel Robert Mueller handed down multiple indictments against Trump campaign officials.

“Millions of Americans have raised their voices in opposition to Donald Trump,” said Tom Steyer. “If Fox News is siding with Trump and trying to silence us, they must be afraid of what we have to say. It shows no respect for democracy.”

The legal team at Need To Impeach, led by Brad Deutsch, former attorney for Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign, has sent a letter to Fox News regarding the breach of contract and demanding an answer on whether the advertisement was pulled at the direction of Trump administration officials. The letter is available here.

Need To Impeach has announced that over 1.6 million people have signed the petition in support of impeachment. Steyer plans to continue airing the ad nationally as well as across all digital platforms.
