(SAN FRANCISCO, July 25, 2018)Need to Impeach Founder Tom Steyer released the below statement following a federal court decision today allowing a lawsuit against Donald Trump to proceed for his violations of the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution:

“Donald Trump has knowingly been violating the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution since he first stepped foot into the Oval Office. There is no doubt that he has directly profited from dealing with foreign governments through his businesses in the U.S. and around the globe. This is just one of several impeachable offenses he has committed and continues to commit every day he is in office, including obstruction of justice and undermining the freedom of the press. What further proof does Congress need now to move forward and start impeachment proceedings against this lawless and dangerous man? Their time to act and remove Trump from office is now.”

Steyer launched the Need to Impeach campaign on October 20, 2017, through national television and social media ads. More than 5.5 million people have since signed on to support the campaign, creating a digital army that several political strategists call one of the most powerful political tools in the Democratic Party. Thirteen other national commercials—including two in Spanish—have aired, reaching more than two billion television viewers and more than 454 million people through social media.
