Trump has attacked the independence of the Justice Department throughout his presidency — lately his attack has gone full-throttle against Mueller and his investigation into Trump's campaign. It’s not just a disregard for the freedoms and norms of our country, but a full-fledged assault on the rule of law.

Donald Trump has attacked the independence of the Department of Justice throughout his presidency.
Trump has attacked not just his Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein but also the independence of the Justice Department itself.
It’s “actually very disturbing assault on the independence of the Department of Justice,” said Harvard Constitutional Law Professor Laurence Tribe.” He has no commitment to the institutional integrity of the department we rely on to represent the rule of law.”
This is not just a disregard for the norms of our country, but a full-fledged assault on the rule of law.
