Titled “Time to Act,” the ad will start airing across the country on Jan. 30, to coincide with the  State of the Union Address

(SAN FRANCISCO, January 29, 2018)—Today, Need to Impeach founder Tom Steyer announced the launch of a new national television ad—underscoring Donald Trump’s impulsiveness and disregard for the security and safety of our nation—that will begin airing on Jan. 30, 2018 as Trump begins his State of the Union address.

Narrated by Steyer, the ad features a countdown and highlights a few of the destructive acts—including threatening an unstable dictator armed with nuclear weapons and, in a rage, entering the nuclear launch codes—that Trump could take in 30 seconds, jeopardizing the safety and well-being of everyone in our country. The ad, which will also be featured across social media platforms, will air on television through Feb. 12th.

“Donald Trump’s deep-seated dishonestly is destroying the democratic foundation of this country, undermining our justice system, and endangering every single person living in America,” said Steyer. “The debate is no longer whether he has met the standard forimpeachment, but whether members of Congress will allow him to get away with it. Waiting for a politically convenient time to acknowledge this jeopardizes the stability of our country and pushes us further away from our democratic values. We cannot wait until tomorrow, or next month, or next year. The time to act is now. ”

Steyer launched the Need to Impeach movement through television and social networking ads on October 20, 2017, calling on supporters to sign a petition. More than 4.4 million people have since signed the petition, creating a digital army of supporters that many political strategists call a formidable and powerful political tool.
