The events in Columbus and Cincinnati will engage with voters in typically red districts

(SAN FRANCISCO, March 8, 2018)—Need to Impeach Founder Tom Steyer is hitting the road and taking the case to impeach Donald Trump across the country with a nationwide town hall series. The series of 30 town halls will kick off next week with events in Ohio, followed by events in the Washington D.C. area.

At the town halls—which begin March 15 in Columbus—Steyer will make the patriotic case to Democrats, Independents, and Republicans about the need for impeachment and how the inaction of their elected leaders in Washington D.C. reflects a broader neglect of their constituents’ safety and the well-being of the entire nation. Another town hall will be held the next day in Cincinnati, followed by Arlington, VA on March 20. Other upcoming events will be held in New York on April 2, Oakland, CA on April 11, and Atlanta on April 19. The campaign will soon announce additional trips to Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin.

“Donald Trump’s failure to respond to Russia’s attacks on the 2016 election is a betrayal of his oath of office that leaves the country in jeopardy. His presence in the White House is an active threat to our democracy and to every person living in America,” said Steyer. “It’s the work of patriots to protect the country, and holding this president accountable is the patriotic thing to do. But our elected leaders in Washington, D.C. refuse to uphold their Constitutional duties, abandoning one of their basic obligations to each of us across the country.

We deserve elected leaders who keep us safe and defend the pillars of our democracy. That’s why I’m traveling to Columbus and communities throughout the country to make the patriotic case to people across the political spectrum. This is about more than just impeachment. It’s about electing leaders who will fight for the rights, dignity, and safety of all people in America.”

Steyer launched the Need to Impeach campaign on October 20, 2017 through national television and social media ads. More than 5 million people have since signed on to support the campaign, creating a digital army that several political strategists call one of the most powerful political tools in the Democratic party. So far, six national commercials have aired, reaching more than 2 billion viewers through television and more than 454 million through social media. A seventh commercial—the first in Spanish—will begin airing nationwide next week.
